Protect your children. There is an app for that

A parent’s worst nightmare is the disappearance of a child..in the event that horrible event happens the more information you can give to the Police the better. That is where Child Alert for Iphone and Android can help. *This post has been updated to reflect the availability on the Android app..officially available next week but I have the links today.*

Child Alert from Quebec Based Avis de recherche.tv allows you to create a complete profile of your children..including pictures and other important information such as allergies. The app will remind you periodically to update the information..this is especialy important with younger children. Should the need arise the app will allow you to forward the complete file to the appropriate authorities by email.

Available for $0.99 for iPhone from the App Store Child Alert or  Enfant-Alerte in French and for Android in English or French is a must have app that hopefully you will never need. Part of the purchase price will go to the Missing Children’s Network in Quebec or to similar organizations in your Province if you live elsewhere in Canada.

The great thing about this app is that you always have the information with you in your smartphone, no matter where you are.

This app looks completely useless to me.
You don’t need an app to store information about your children.

I strongly suggest to give a (cheap) smartphone to your children and to enable a service like Google Latitude so you can know where your children are at all times as long as the device is ON.

I am really happy to see that technology for missing children is reaching us here in Montreal. We should be able to protect our children in whatever way we can, so the easier it gets the better!

    I didn’t know that.
