The Logitech HD Pro Webcam C910 clearly shows its Logitech heritage..simple clean lines and black. The simple one piece hinged design made it a simple process to set the webcam up on my LCD monitor and connect the attached 5′ USB cable to my computer. Installation of the Windows software was an equally simple process.
It has been a while since I tried out a webcam so I wasn’t sure what to expect..my previous experiences were not earth shattering. I didn’t expect the image quality I saw when I started it up and that was in the default 720p mode. When I used the Logitech control software to bump it up to 1080p I was blown away. Let me qualify that..it wont put a DSLR to shame but it is way more than adequate for a webcam. Why don’t I show you.
As you can see the video performance is pretty impressive although you will likely notice a few compression artifacts in the 1080p video if you play it full screen. Currently there is no way to turn off the video compression. The C910 also takes 8 megapixel snapshots which are pretty good but lack the depth and colour of a digital camera but perfect if you need a shot for a forum or email.
The C910 is available wherever Logitech products are sold, the MSRP is $119.99 but I have seen it at $94.99. Perhaps a bit steep for a webcam but you have to consider the impressive performance..something you will like if you make a lot of video calls.
Overall I liked the Logitech HD Pro Webcam C910 and recommend it if you want the best webcam quality I have seen to date.
