It has been a while since I lusted over a new smartphone but Motorola has grabbed my attention with it’s ATRIX. Billed as the world’s fastest smartphone when it was announced at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The Motorola ATRIX sports a 1GHz Nvidia dual-core Tegra 2 chip with 1GB of fast memory so Motorola’s claim is certainly not hyperbole.
Running Android 2.2 the ATRIX has front and rear facing cameras a bright 4 inch qHD screen and a 1930 mAh battery. It will be interesting to see how long that big battery will run the dual-core processor and big bright screen.
The ATRIX features two docks..a multimedia one that has three USB ports and an HDMI port and the more interesting Laptop Dock with an 11.6″ screen. Simply plug the ATRIX into this dock and you have a netbook like experience.
The Motorola ATRIX will be available exclusively on Bell Mobility likely in the first quarter of this year. No pricing on the phone or the docks has been released. I can’t tell you much more until I get one of these beasts into my hot little hands but I do have this video prepared by Laptop Magazine
