Shopping at Canadian Tire? There’s an app for that.

Every day it seems a retailer adds a shopping app hoping to atttract buyers to the store. Canadian Tire is no different. The new app allows you to search, browse shop by department, find the nearest store based on GPS technology and browse the current flyer.

The Canadian Tire app adds one feature however, that makes it stand out from the rest.

You can scan the bar code on any product in the store and the app will show a full description, the list price at canadiantire.ca and features as well as reviews written by people who bought the product.

I tried the app out on a recent visit to my local Canadian Tire store and found it surprisingly helpful, especially for finding more information about products such as tires which don’t normally have a lot of detail on the display.

The Canadian Tire Mobile app is a handy little addition to your smartphone and well worth the download. Get it for free at the Apple App Store, Blackberry App World or Android Market.

    Hi Bob,

Glad to see you back writing about the latest in tech. I missed your Tech Talk segments!

No word I guess on the app for WP7?

Guess they are taking a wait and see approach like everyone else.

    Cheers!

The uptake on WP7 phones hasn’t set the world on fire so I think it is going to be slow going before developers jump on the bandwagon with apps as quickly as they develop them for iPhone and Android.

    Hi Bob,

I too miss your Tech Talk segments. Congratulations on the website; it’s clear, easy to search and very informative. All you need now is to write an app for it 😉

Canadian Tire really gets it. It is the epitome of useful self-service, that people love to use! Next thing they should have is a “call button” to ask for service in the dept they are in.

    Keep up the good work!
